Harvey was born on October 14th, 1892. Harvey's father was James Preston Goyne and his mother was Laura Jane Tatum. His paternal grandparents were Hiram Davis Goyne Sr. and Susannah Lupo. He had three brothers and three sisters, named George, James, John, Susie, Minnie and Ardeller. He was the youngest of the seven children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Benjamin and Effie. He died due to natural causes or old age at the age of 77 in October 1969.
