William was born in 1710 in Stafford Co, VA.  William's father was William Going and his mother was Catherine TBD.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Going and Catherine. He had three brothers and a sister, named Ambrose, Alexander, John and Susannah.  He was the youngest of the five children.  He died at the age of 82 on April 10th, 1792 in Spartanburg Co, SC.
