Zdenìk was born in 1589.  Zdenìk's father was Jindøich Brtnický z Valdštejna and his mother is Zuzana Heltová z Kemetu.  His paternal grandfather was Zdenìk Brtnický z Valdštejna and his paternal grandmother is Anna KAPLÍØOVÁ ZE SULEVIC; his maternal grandparents were Zikmund Helt z Kemetu and Alena Mezeøíèská z Lomnice.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 35 in 1624 in Špilberská vìznice, Brno.
