Susheela's father was Venkata Rathnam Medishetty and her mother was Seshamma (Vallabha) Medishetty.  Her maternal grandparents were Veera Venkaiah Naidu Vallabha and Kanakamma (Pujamma) Vallabha. She had three brothers named Ram Mohan Rao, Hari Krishna Rao and Bhaskar Rao.  She died due to a medical problem.
