Egidus was born in 1569 in Malderen, Brabant Wallon, Belgium.  Egidus' father was Antonius Van Asche and his mother was Maria Goosens.  His paternal grandfather was Henricus Van Asche and his paternal grandmother is Barbara Verbrecht. He had a brother named Christophorus.  He was the older of the two children.  He died at the age of 38 in 1607.
