Petronella was born in May 1733 in Hever, Brabant Wallon, Belgium.  Petronella's father was Jan Baptist Torfs and her mother was Elizabeth Verstraeten.  Her maternal grandparents were Jan Verstraeten and Gommara Ramps.  She was an only child.  She died at the age of 73 in 1806 in Hever, Brabant Wallon, Belgium.
