Michael was born on October 5th, 1775 in Lier, Antwerp, Belgium.  Michael's father was Melchior Tisson and his mother was Anna Carolina Van Den Bergh.  His paternal grandfather was Melchior Tisson and his paternal grandmother is Maria Theresia Denis. He had four brothers named Melchior Gummarus, Guilielmus, Guilielmus and Johannes Fransiscus.  He is the youngest of the five children. He had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named Joannes Baptista, Joannes Franciscus, Joannes Baptista and Anna Elisabetha.
