Cornelius was born in December 1718 in Lier, Antwerp, Belgium.  Cornelius' father is Bernardus Tisson and his mother is Cornelia Vernimmen. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Petrus, Joannes Baptista, Melchior, Franciscus, Guilhelmus, Maria Cornelia, Catharina and Anna Clara.  He is the youngest of the nine children.
