Francis' father was Charles Spencer, Earl of Sunderland and her mother was Arabella of Newcastle.  Her paternal grandparents were Robert Spencer, Earl of Sunderland and Anne Digby of Bristol. She had three half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Robert, Charles, John, Anne and Diana.  She died in 1742.
