George Ashley was born on July 22nd, 1621 in Wimborne,St.Giles,Dorset,England.  George Ashley's father was Sir John of Rockburne Cooper and his mother was Anne Elizabeth Ashley.  His maternal grandfather is william Hassell. He had a brother and two sisters, named 1st Earl of Shaftsbury Anthony of Shaftsbury, Phillippa and Lady Jane.  He was the second oldest of the four children.  He died at the age of 60 on January 28th, 1682 in Stratford,Warwickshire,England.
