Josephine Crowley 1913 - 2009 WILLIAMSTOWN Josephine Ann Crowley, 96, of 321 North St., Williamstown, died Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009, at Sweetbrook Care Center. Born in Williamstown on Feb. 16, 1913, daughter of Jeremiah and Ellen O'Connell Crowley. she attended schools in Williamstown and graduated from the former Williamstown High School in 1929 and from the former North Adams Normal School in 1931. She received a Bachelor of Science in education from Boston University in 1938 and her Master's Degree in education from the University of Hartford in 1958. Miss Crowley taught for many years in the former Broad Brook School in Williamstown until her retirement in 1976. She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Williamstown, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild. She was a member of the Berkshire County Teacher's Association, Massachusetts Teacher's Association, Retired State Association and the NEA Teacher's Association. She is the last of her immediate family. She leaves a nephew, Gerald Francis Crowley of Falmouth, and grandnephews and cousins. She is predeceased by two brothers and a sister; Navy Lt. Francis Jerome Crowley was killed during World War II while serving in the South Pacific, assigned to the aircraft carrier "Franklin", Cornelius Joseph Crowley died May 10, 1985, and Margaret Crowley, with whom she made her home, died Jan. 31, 1988. FUNERAL NOTICE: Graveside services will take place at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
