Sarah was born in 1845 in Manchester and her christening took place on June 8th, 1845 at Manchester Cathedral.1  Sarah's father was David Wood and her mother was Sarah Henshall. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Solomon, David, Mary, Elizabeth and Amelia.  She was the youngest of the six children.
