Ann, known as Annie, was born in 1852 in Birkenhead.1   Annie's father was Abraham Wood and her mother was Martha Taylor. She had four brothers and three sisters, named John, Daniel, David, Abraham, Martha, Mary and Susannah.  She was the fourth oldest of the eight children.
