Amelia was born in 1836 in Manchester and her christening took place on August 14th, 1836 at Manchester Cathedral.1  Amelia's father was David Wood and her mother was Sarah Henshall. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Solomon, David, Mary, Elizabeth and Sarah.  She was the third oldest of the six children.
