Maggie was born in 1888 in Turton.1  Maggie's father was William Tomlinson and her mother was Mary Ann Barnes.  Her paternal grandparents were Richard Tomlinson and Ann Bolton. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Richard, Richard, William, Ann, Sarah, Charlotte and Mary.  She was the youngest of the eight children.
