Josiah was born in 1773 in Keel and his christening took place there on July 18th, 1773.1  Josiah's father was Richard Timmis and his mother was Mary Hall.  His maternal grandparents were Joseph Hall and Mary Hall. He had three brothers and two sisters, named John, John, Richard, Ann and Mary.  He was the oldest of the six children.
