Eliza Octavia Thornton

Eliza was born in September 1839 in Royston and her christening took place there on September 24th, 1839.¹²

  Ecclesfield is about 8 to 10 miles south of Barnsley, and 6 miles north of Sheffield. Royston is 3 or 4 miles north of Barnsley, so Eliza probably was born at Royston (perhaps at a hospital there), but the birth registered at Ecclesfield, probably nearer to where the family lived.
