Michael was born on August 9th, 1799 in Almondbury and his christening took place there on October 6th, 1799.1  Michael's father was George Stocks and his mother was Mary Blackburn.  His paternal grandparents were Joseph Stocks and Elizabeth (Betty) Shaw; his maternal grandparents were Matthew (Matt) Blackburn and Mary Sykes. He had two brothers and five sisters, named Benjamin, Job, Betty, Esther, Susannah, Esther and Ruth.  He was the third youngest of the eight children.  He died as an infant at 4 months old on December 31st, 1799 in Almondbury.1
