Job was born on August 23rd, 1803 in Berry Brow and his christening took place on September 23rd, 1803 in High St. Chapel Methodist New Connexion.¹²

Job's father was George Stocks and his mother was Mary Blackburn. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Stocks and Elizabeth (Betty) Shaw; his maternal grandparents were Matthew (Matt) Blackburn and Mary Sykes. He had two brothers and five sisters, named Benjamin, Michael, Betty, Esther, Susannah, Esther and Ruth. He was the second youngest of the eight children. He died at the age of 75 in March 1879 in Huddersfield. He was buried in Berry Brow.³
