Eliza was born on March 28th, 1837 in Netherthong and her christening took place there on May 10th, 1837.1 2  Eliza's father was John Roebuck and her mother was Rebecca Tate.  Her maternal grandparents were William Tate and Susannah Stocks. She had two sisters named Elizabeth and Martha.  She was the second oldest of the three children.  She died at the age of 37 on March 5th, 1875 in Netherthong.3
