Mary was born in 1813 in Bolton and her christening took place on June 6th, 1813 at St. Peters (Bolton).1  Mary's father was Richard Pollitt and her mother was Mary Davenport. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Miles, Richard, William, Louisa and Anna.  She was the second oldest of the six children.
