Lois' father was William Pollitt and her mother was Ester Holt. Her paternal grandparents were Richard Pollitt and Mary Davenport; her maternal grandparents were James Holt and Fanny Hamer. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Miles, Elijah, Albert, Mary and Emily. She was the third youngest of the six children. She died at the age of 68 in January 1926 in Bolton.¹
