Rosannah was born in 1834 in Bolton and her christening took place there on August 24th, 1834.1  Rosannah's father was Holt Mather and her mother was Alice Vickers. She had a brother and two sisters, named Thomas, Mary and Ellen.  She was the second youngest of the four known children.
