Rachael was born on January 13th, 1801 in Turton and her baptism took place on February 5th, 1801 in Bury.1 2  Rachael's father was Thomas Mather and her mother was Betty Johnson.  Her paternal grandparents were Peter Mather and Ellen Howarth. She had a brother named Thomas.  She was the older of the two children.
