Mary (May) Alice Mather

Mary, known as May, was born in June 1898 in Astley Bridge.¹

May's father was George Alfred Mather and her mother was Ellen Guest. Her paternal grandparents were George Mather and Mary Marsh; her maternal grandparents were Guest Guest and Martha Ann Eckersley. She had three brothers and five sisters, named George, Harry, Fred, Eleanor, Emily, Martha, Lilly and Ethel. She was the fourth youngest of the nine children. She died at the age of 3 in June 1901 in Bolton.²
