Marianne was born in 1814 and her christening took place on April 24th, 1814 at St. Peters (Bolton).1   Marianne's father was Samuel Mather and her mother was Ellen Rigby. She had five brothers and a sister, named Thomas, William, Ralph, George, John and Alice.  She was the oldest of the seven children.
