Margaret, known as Maggie, was born in 1881 in Bolton.1   Maggie's father was William Mather and her mother was Jane Crompton.  Her maternal grandparents were <male> Crompton and Ellen. She had a brother and two sisters, named John, Ellen and Martha.  She was the youngest of the four children.
