Lilian's father was James Inman and her mother was Ruth Mather. Her paternal grandparents were David Inman and Dorothy Robinson; her maternal grandparents were John Mather and Elizabeth (Eli) Kay. She had a brother and three sisters, named William, Elizabeth, Sarah and Margaret. She was the second oldest of the five children. She died in Vancouver.²
