Elizabeth, known as Betty, was born in 1827 in Bolton and her christening took place on June 1st, 1828 at St. Peters (Bolton).1  Betty's father was Thomas Grundy and her mother was Mary.  Her paternal grandparents were John Grundy and <Unknown>. She had two brothers and two sisters, named John, William, Sarah and Mary.  She was the youngest of the five children.
