Thomas was born in 1814 in Bolton and his christening took place on July 3rd, 1814 at St. Peters (Bolton).1  Thomas' father was Henry Fairhurst and his mother was Betty. He had two brothers and three sisters, named John, Joseph, Hannah, Ellen and Mary.  He was the youngest of the six children.
