John Henry Doxey

John was born in September 1888 in Newton Heath.¹

John's father was Henry Doxey and his mother was Mary Ann Dooley. His paternal grandparents were John Doxey and Sarah Worthington; his maternal grandparents were William Dooley and Mary Beck. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Frank, Joseph, Sarah, Hannah, Clara and Florence. He was the third youngest of the seven children. He had a half-brother named Walter. He died about 1957.²

      A big detached house next to the main gates of the big park there named Brookdale Park. Sue's only memory of it was the Hallway. It was a bit like the Bronte Vicarage at Haworth, with rooms either side of the hall. It was demolished by the Council as it also had a big garden and the council wanted it for the park (or so they said).
