George was born in September 1870 in Liverpool.1  George's father was Johann (Chris) Heinrich Christoph Dittmer and his mother was Magdalena (Dorris) Dorothee Elizabeth Heuern.  His paternal grandparents were Christian Fredrich Dittmer and Maria Luise Bliesener. He had a sister named Dorris.  He was the younger of the two children. He had eight half-brothers and five half-sisters, named George, William or Will, Fred, Henry, Chris, John, Charles, James, Mary, Margaret, Lizzie, Catherine and Evelyn.  He died as an infant in September 1870 in Liverpool.1
