Mary was born on March 31st, 1809 in Highfield and her christening took place on July 25th, 1809 in Independent (Highfield).1   Mary's father was Daniel (Dan) Crosland and her mother was Mary.  Her paternal grandparents were Jonathon Crosland and Betty Liversedge. She had three brothers and three sisters, named John, Charles, <male>, <female>, Lucy and Hannah.  She was the youngest of the seven children.
