Benjamin was born in 1801 and his christening took place on December 18th, 1801 in Malpas.1  Benjamin's father was Thomas Brereton and his mother was Elizabeth. He had five brothers and a sister, named Thomas, Barnabas, John, Abraham, George and Ellen.  He was the third oldest of the seven children.
