George's father was William R Boothroyd and his mother was Mary Stocks. His maternal grandparents were Benjamin Stocks and Sarah Campinot. He had two brothers and two sisters, named James, William, Eliza and Sarah. He was the second youngest of the five children.

General Notes
- Probably also emigrated to USA, as a letter from Benjamin and Sarah Stocks to their son Joseph, dated 27-Nov-1870 asks him to "give our love to George Boothroyd".
  
  There is no trace of William and Mary and their family William, George and Sarah E after 1861. Perhaps they all emigrated to the USA with the other members of the family.

- George lived at 40 Kenworthy Street from 1861.¹
