Thomas was born in 1804 in Ellesmere and his christening took place on October 15th, 1804 in Whitchurch.1 2  Thomas' father was George Batho and his mother was Rosanna (Rosina). He had a brother and a sister, named George and Ann.  He was the oldest of the three children.
