Nicholas was born in 1784 in Colton.1  Nicholas' father was James Astley and his mother was Mary Bury. He had four brothers and a sister, named John, James, William, Samuel and Isobel.  He was the second youngest of the six children.  He died at the age of 71 on February 6th, 1855.1
