  • JAMES LESLIE BRADFIELD, age 89, passed away on February 5, 2006 surrounded by his loving family. Leslie was not monetarily rich or famous, he had something more valuable, something others seek and often don't find. His richness came from being a family man that lived, loved and was loved. Leslie, son of John Leslie and Ulla Bessie Bradfield was born on May 30, 1916. He grew up, along with his brothers Wayne and Eugene, on the family farm in Fairfax, Missouri. As a teenager, Leslie discovered that he loved to "tinker" with machinery, gas engines ect. If something wasn't running well, he'd take it apart to fix it. If something was running well, he'd take it apart to see why. He graduated from Tarkio, Missouri High School in 1935. On February 14, 1940 Leslie married the love of his life, Thelma Louise Trauernicht. Next week would have been their 66 wedding anniversary. They were blessed with four children Leslie "Leroy", Sharon, Shirley and David. Throughout his life, Leslie continued to use his "tinkering" abilities by working in a B25 bomber plant at the beginning of WWII. Later, he entered the Navy and "tinkered' with submarines. After the Navy, he worked at the Claycomo Ford Motor Company plant in Kansas City, MO. and was eventually transferred to Michigan. Later, he worked in the maintenance department at the University Of Michigan, from which he retired. He moved to Saddlebrook, Arizona in 1999. Leslie is survived by his loving wife Thelma; daughters Sharon Burbey of Saddlebrook, AZ, and Shirley Lang of San Diego CA; sons Leslie Leroy Bradfield of Lake Havasu City, AZ and David Bradfield of Saddlebrook, AZ; five grandchildren Julie Burbey, Mark Bradfield, Doug Bradfield, James Taeckens and April Beane; six great grandchildren; brothers Wayne Bradfield and Eugene Bradfield and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral Services was held at Vista De La Montana United Methodist Church at 3001 East Mira Vista Lane, Tucson AZ; on Friday February 10, 2006 at 10:00 AM.
