Abigail's father was Gershom Sexton and her mother was Abigail King. Her paternal grandparents were Joseph Sexton and Hannah Wright; her maternal grandparents were Thomas King and Abigail Strong. She has a brother and a sister, named Amos and Jerusha. She had four half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Ebenezer, Asahel, Gershom, Jonathan, Mary, Hannah, Tabitha and Penelope.-
