David Luther was born on February 9th, 1895 in Indiana, USA.1   David Luther's father was Lawson E. Payton and his mother was Ruth Adeline Harvey.  His paternal grandparents were Rufus Leroy Payton and Louisa Anna Dawson; his maternal grandfather is James A. Harvey and his maternal grandmother was Mary A Miller. He had three brothers and four sisters, named William Morgan, Paul, Montie, Estella Henrietta, Mary Louise "Mollie", Isabell and Zellie M.  He was the second youngest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 78 on June 30th, 1973 in Martinsville, Morgan, Indiana, USA.  He was buried in Shultz Cemetery.
