Winfield Scott was born in 1853 in Indiana, USA.1 Winfield Scott's father was Samuel M. Briscoe and his mother was Margaret Jane McCown. His maternal grandparents were James M. McCown and Nancy Mourning Lewis. He had a brother and four sisters, named William Lewis, Dulsena Jane, Elizabeth Mourning, Amelia Catherine and Darthula. He died at the age of 89 in 1942.-
