John Stapleton 
John was born on January 4th, 1905 in The Standing, Knockboy. John's father was Patrick Stapleton and his mother was Ellen Bartley. His paternal grandparents were William Stapleton and Margaret Nowlan; his maternal grandparents were Michael Bartley and Mary Manton. He had five brothers and two sisters, named William, Michael, Patrick, James, Richard, Margaret and Mary. He was the third youngest of the eight children. He died at the age of 68 on July 3rd, 1973 in Gortnahoe. He was buried in March 1973.-
