Marietta was born on January 1st, 1877 in Dundee, MI.¹ Marietta's father was William Henry Rankin and her mother was Amy Ursla Kimpton. Her paternal grandparents were Orlean Rankin and Hannah Miller. She had four brothers and seven sisters, named Myron, Laverne, Elmer, Dewitt, Alta, Amy, Margaret, Henrietta, Grace, Flora and Blanche. She was the fifth oldest of the twelve children. She died at 9 months old on October 24th, 1877.²
