Joseph was born on May 1st, 1782 in Plymouth, NH .  Joseph's father was Josiah Brown and his mother was Rachel Fellows. He had a brother and six sisters, named Josiah, Polly, Olive, Nancy, Ruth, Samuel and Sally.  He was the second oldest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 80 on June 21st, 1862 in Windsor Township - province Quebec Canada.

‌Joseph and Susannah were married in a religious ceremony on January 31st, 1805 in Plymouth, NH .  They had five sons and two daughters, named Josiah, George, Shepherd, Andrew, Jonathan, Emily and Martha.
