His paternal grandparents were John Quincy Adams and Jane Ann Newcomb. He had three brothers and two sisters, named John, Otis, Leroy, Gertrude and Amelia. He was the third oldest of the six children. He died at the age of 79 on February 18th, 1990 in Temperamce, MI.
