"DEATH NOTICE
Irven Adams, 93, patriarch of one of Bedford township's first pioneer families died in his home at 1502 Dean Road, Temperance, on October 5, 1971.
Mr. Adams was the son of John Quincy and Jane Newcombe Adams and the grandson of Lucas Adams who settled in the township in 1833. He was born in the family homestead on April 13, 1878, and was married to Dora Ellito [sic] Dec. 22, 1904.
Beloved by family and a multitude of friends, he will be missed by the author of the "Courier Scrapbook" column, as he was the source of much information and inspiration.
Mr. Adams was a member of the First Baptist Church and a life-long farmer.
Services were held at the Farnham Funeral Home, Temperance on Friday, October 8, with burial in the Whiteford Union Cemetary.
Surviving are his three sons, Sterling Adams, John Q. Adams, and Otis Adams, all of Temperance; a daughter, Mrs. Arleen Wilson of Bay City, Michigan; a sister, Mrs. Bertha McCann of Toledo; 19 grandchildren, 36 great- grandchildren and a great- great- grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, who died in 1966, by a son, Arlan, who was killed in World War II, daughter, Gertrude, and a grand-daughter."
