    John Griffith Esq. of Stogumber married Joanna-Phillippa Fraunceis on 15 October 1783 at St. Paul's Church in Exeter, Devon.
     
    Their first child was Harriett Fraunceis Griffith (born possibly on 11 February 1783 - if so, Harriett was born out of wedlock), and Harriett married Richard Percy / Purssey in Stogumber in 1808.
    
    They also had 4 other children:
    
    2 - John Fraunceis Griffith  (Born 22/9/1792 - parish register.  Christened 19/8/1799 at St. Martin's church, Elworthy, Somerset - parish register.  Died July-September 1852, Cardiff, Wales)
    
    3 - Franceis Griffith  (Born 11/3/1793.  Christened 25/8/1799 at St. Martin's church, Elworthy, Somerset - parish register)
    
    4 - Thomas Griffith  (Born 22/5/1795.  Christened 20/8/1799 at St. Martin's, Elworthy, Somerset - parish register)
    
    5 - Charles Griffith  (Born 2/9/1798.  Christened 20/81799 at St. Martin's, Elworthy, Somerset - parish register)
    
    Joanna-Phillippa died in 1801.
    
    John Griffith lived at "Jerramsgate" in Stogumber.  He remarried and had 3 more children.
    
    John Griffith, amongst other things, acted as the local tax assessor, being a "respectable and well educated man living within the local tything".

    Died: 26 August 1885 (aged about 66 yrs) at Port Augusta, South Australia.
    Married: Samuel CRIDDLE 11 February 1841 West Monkton, Somerset
    
    C - Mark Griffiths born in Stogumber on 15 September 1822, married Sarah Frost on 22 September 1851 in St Decuman's Church, Somerset, and died September 1896 in Eastbourne, East Sussex.

    The details have been verified and expanded by Mr. David Turner who lives near Taunton and Stogumber, England, and who has been able to view the original records.  Mr. Turner is also a descendant of John Griffith Esq. by way of his second marriage through the son Mark.
