Antje was born on November 1st, 1832 in Akkerwoude.  Antje's father was Durk Sjoerds van der Galien and her mother was Pietje Pieters Petersma.  Her paternal grandparents were Sjoerd Sybes van der Galien and Antje Sjoukes. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Pieter, Sjoerd, Oedzen, Tjimkje, Hendrikje and Durkje.  She was the fourth oldest of the seven children.  She died at the age of 66 on March 11th, 1899.
