Andrijs was born on October 3rd, 1799 in Murmerwoude.  Andrijs' father was Sjoerd Sybes van der Galien and his mother was Antje Sjoukes.  His paternal grandparents were Sybe Sjoerds Galjee and Geeske Hendriks. He had six brothers named Sijbe, Sjouke, Meindert, Durk, Hendrik and Jan.  He was the fourth oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 78 on January 21st, 1878.
