Sijke was born on December 6th, 1852.  Sijke's father was Melle Lieuwes Rozema and her mother was Mientje Libbes Westra.  Her paternal grandparents were Lieuwe Roelofs Rosema and Sytske Hedzers Kooistra. She had five brothers and a sister, named Lieuwe, Libbe, Hedzer, Tabe, Sytse and Sijke.  She was the third youngest of the seven children.  She died at 2 months old on February 18th, 1853.
